FSU Flute Studio

Welcome to the FSU Flute Studio!  Our 30-40 flute students come to study from all over the world, including South America and Europe.  A diverse studio, we represent the following majors:
  • Nine graduate performance majors
  • Six undergraduate performance majors
  • Thirteen music education majors
  • Four music therapy majors
  • Two theory and composition majors
Students meet weekly in freshmen, sophomore, junior/senior and graduate studio classes.  Graduates perform weekly in the University Symphony Orchestra, Wind Orchestra and Chamber Winds.  Undergraduates perform weekly in the University Philharmonia Orchestra, Concert and Symphonic Bands, Flute Choir and chamber ensembles.  Scholarships and graduate teaching assistantships are available for qualified students.   

We are fortunate to host numerous distinguished guest artists each year, recent guests include: Carol Wincenc, Robert Dick, Chris Kreugger, Marianne Gedigian, Jonathan Keeble, Lea Pearsen, Linda Mark, Colin St. Martin, Leonard Garrison and Robert Langevin.

The FSU flute studio strives to offer students a well rounded experience through classes in dynamic integration, beginning and advanced Baroque flute, recorder, techniques and flute pedagogy classes.
