This fall we celebrated the ten year anniversary of the re-establishment of the Flute Association. With the aid of generous contributions from the FSU College of Music, SGA, Beethoven and Company, JL Smith, the Brannen-Cooper Fund, among others, the FA at FSU kicked off the fall semester with perhaps the best attended Flute Day ever, featuring guest artists Marianne Gedigian and Elizabeth Goode. We were thrilled that so many of you could join us at the Flute Day master classes with Gedigian and Professor Amsler, recitals by Gedigian and Goode, flute choir reading and warm up with Elizabeth Goode, numerous exhibits and a panel discussion. Moreover, The FA at FSU was honored to host both Baroque Flutist Na’ama Lion and former student and newly appointed principal flute of the Vienna Philharmonic, and former student of Professor Amsler, Karl‐Heinz Schütz, this November. Schütz’s residency was funded in part by the support of the Brannen-Cooper Fund.

The FA at FSU eagerly awaits a similarly eventful spring semester. World renowned flutist and pedagogue Jeanne Baxtresser will provide a series of master classes, lectures and related events at FSU February 14-16, 2012. We hope you can take advantage of this wonderful opportunity! A full schedule will be posted online in the coming weeks.

These are just a few of our many upcoming events. Please visit the upcoming events link for more information on all the year
has to offer! If you’re not already on our email list, please click on the mailing list above to receive our newsletter.
We hope you’ll join us in welcoming an array of accomplished artists and celebrating this special year in the history
of the Flute Association.

Hope to see you soon!

Dear Flute Association Members & Friends,

Welcome back to the second half of an exciting year of concerts, lectures, master classes and other flute-related events at Florida State University. As a registered organization of the Student Government Association (SGA), approximately forty undergraduate and graduate students currently comprise the association. The FA at FSU strives to host high caliber guest artists who perform and coach, as well as educate and inspire FA members, FSU students and individuals throughout the greater Tallahassee community. The Flute Association organizes and promotes these events on campus, throughout the state and in nationally, through our affiliation with the National Flute Association.
